Our party was three persons. We enjoyed an appetizer of meats, cheeses some with a jam (delicious) crostinis and all were very good. Next came our entrees: wild boar stew with vegetables and mashed potatoes, guinea hen, roasted to perfection with grilled vegetables as a side, third entree was Pici with a creamy ragu. The service was excellent and friendly. We enjoyed two different bottles of wine which were reasonably priced; one was Bolgheri and the other was Syrah. We had a wonderfully tasty dark chocolate mini soufflé trio which we all ate so quickly, I didn’t get a pic! The restaurant is very comfortable, serving the typical Tuscan style dishes. We definitely recommend and we will return next year!!

Oh, there are so many fantastic restaurants in the Chianti, but you absolutely must try Osteria Rosticceria Il Re Gallo in Castellina in Chianti! It’s a charming, rustic place with warm hospitality. And the food and wine are simply divine! See you in August - salute!

Best meal of the holiday! We were a party of 6 + 1 piccoloino staying down the road on the Lilliano estate and had tried a few nights to get a reservation on recommendation of our hosts. We finally made it on Friday night and had an excellent family meal sitting outside. Everyone enjoyed all their food choices (primi, secondi & desserts). The staff were excellent providing friendly service and were brilliant with baby Florence Grazie Mille

We order stewed wild boar which is so good. A local food that must try when you in Chianti region. Also recommen the chicken, hen tigh stuffed with mushroom. For mushroom lover, this menu is really recommend Since we came in the winter, we also order pumpkin soup with maroni. A lovely Umami and sweet mix together. Better make a reservation since the restaurant is always full due to great ambience, Warm service and good foods

Our second visit here and it will not be our last. The staff and relaxed and super professional, the wine is perfect and the Steak Florentine is amazing. It has a fantastic atmosphere and a great menu.

Amazing place! After being referred to Il Re Gallo by our hostess, we mentioned that my girlfriend was craving a carbonara. They called the chef who prepared it for us even though it was not on their menu. The food was great, the restaurant had a very rustic and 'local' atmosphere. Staff was very helpful, nice and accommodating to the nut and peanut allergy of my girlfriend.
